Why Toastmasters?
Toastmasters can help you reach your goals!
Do you want to be a dynamic presenter? A confident communicator? An active team member? A strong leader? Has your boss told you to work on your communication skills?
Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization, which has developed an extensive educational program to help you learn communication and leadership skills.
You develop important presentation skills, including how to organize a speech, how to use visual aids, and how to inspire an audience. You practice giving formal presentations as well as impromptu speeches.
You also develop other important communication skills, such as time management, listening, critical thinking, and giving feedback.
You also develop important leadership skills, such as planning and implementation, facilitating, and motivating.
The Toastmasters program is self-paced. Members learn by doing; the club meeting is the learning lab for developing skills.
Feedback is the most important part of the Toastmasters experience. You develop and grow as a communicator and leader from the targeted feedback. You also develop and grow your own listening and evaluation skills, and learn how to give effective feedback.
Feedback is for the benefit of the speaker. It's important because we aren't always able to see ourselves and see how well we did. As you get feedback, you learn what went well, and what you can do to make your speeches even better.
The Toastmasters club provides the supportive environment for you to develop your own voice while you develop your skills.
